Sunny Beach
Bulgaria's biggest beach resort for a family holiday
About the city
Sunny Beach (Slanchev Bryag) is Bulgaria's largest and best-known beach resort, set on the southern coast between Nessebar and Sveti Vlas. Its signature is an eight-kilometre strip of fine golden sand with a gentle slope into the sea — ideal for a holiday with children. Hotels, water parks, cafes, and entertainment line the beachfront.
The resort is built entirely around visitors: everything is within walking distance, exchange offices, pharmacies, and supermarkets are plentiful, and the promenade comes alive in the evenings. The UNESCO-listed old town of Nessebar is only a few kilometres away, making it easy to pair a beach day with a historic stroll.
Ukrainian travellers reach it by direct summer buses from Kyiv, with regular transfers from Burgas and Varna. The route runs through Moldova and Romania, so an international passport is required. The season lasts from May to September, and tickets are cheapest when booked early.
